Dr. Simeon Nill

The Institute of Cancer Research and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust

Dr Simeon Nill, is a clinical scientist who specialises in ways of targeting radiotherapy that take into account tumour movement. He is head of translational radiotherapy physics and deputy head of the Radiotherapy Physics Modelling Team in the Joint Department of Physics.

Dr Nill''s research is focused on the translation into new treatment concepts of the latest advances in the area of image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), adaptive radiation therapy (ART) and treatment planning for external photon beam therapy. MR image-guided radiotherapy treatment on the MR-Linac

MR image guidance is becoming more and more an integral part of the Radiotherapy workflow. In 2016 the ICR and RMH installed the first MR Linac in the UK. In autumn 2018 the first patients were treated with this hybrid device combining a 1.5T MRI scanner with a linear accelerator. An overview of this cutting edge technology and first results will be presented.
